In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

Could Jeff or anyone comment on the reliability of the Amulet of Wonder effects in years to come? I mean, I know there is no way to predict the actual effects, but I am wondering if the overall strength from year to year will be relatively similar. I'm about to put in an order and want to know if the Amulet would be a good grab.

For example, this year the amulet gave +2 to saves, +4 to max hit points, and allowed any Dwarven weapons to be used disregarding class restrictions.

That's pretty powerful. It's arguably as powerful as both a Dougal's cloak and Wil's Dragonheart, two of the more popular ultra rares.

Perhaps, if anyone would be kind enough to recall what kinds of powers the amulet gave in years past, it would help me estimate the general usefullness of the item.

2009 (True Realm) "became" a different amulet (given tokens for these 2)
2009 (Gen Con) ???
2010-2011 (die roll) +1, 2, or 3 saves, +3(?) Hp, immunity to something or 2x HoP

I believe Jeff has said he wants to stay away from a die roll for a couple of years.

the die roll options were different each year/dungeon (i think the 2xHoP was always there). i remember +1 level was an option on one of the dice. immunity to fire and +reflex saves on the smoak dungeon.

i think die rolls could still be really cool if it was something more than a simple stat bonus. ive mentioned before the idea of turning into an elemental with the different elements on the sides of the die. then just have slightly different abilities for each type of elemental.
of course, jeff would probably want it to be themed appropriately, so maybe turns you into a golem for 2013, roll for type of golem :)

I only ask if the AoW effect is fixed this year and allows certain tokens to be used across class, that be announced as soon as feasible as it can/will impact token orders (I am sure more people would have gone for the UR Dwarven Axe last year if they had known it would have been usable for anyone with the AoW)

That's a really good point. It could also make the AoW more of a "must buy" token for people that are on the fence (such as I am--not sure if I'm going to get any for my group or not).

I know I was on the fence and decided to wait until the power was announced to decide if it should be this year or next.

The power for 2013 Amulet of Wonder will be the same power as the Horn of Plenty effect.

In 2014, the AoW power will be cause wings to grow out of the back of the character. This will allow the character to Fly (at will). In addition, the character will suffer no penalties for being at high altitude.

In 2015, the AoW power will be the ability to be healed by non-spell magic or non-Special Power magic while on the Lower Planes. Healing spells cast by character and Special Powers from a character will still cure as normal while on the Lower Planes.

2013: ok then, i guess i will just leave my HoP at home this year. also, who wants to buy me a ticket to go on an adventure with their group? ;)

2014: cool, will we get some arial combat rules? get some swoop attacks and strafing going on.

2015: that sounds like it will be useful.
