Here is one more...

How are the PROOF tokens different than normal run tokens???

Thanks,
Gary

Honestly...I don't know yet. I want to make a change to the chips I received this week, so if that occurs then they will be slightly different in a way that is not "fake-able". I will let you know as soon as I know. It is the Chinese New Yearright now, so I don't expect an answer until near the end of the month.

WHOOO HOOO!

Hi,

I've got a question about the Ioun Stones - it was asked in another thread, but not really answered. Do they take the helm slot, or are the "free" and take no slot?

Thanks!
Mike

Ioun Stones do not take up a slot. Up to five different Ioun Stones can be circling a character's head at one time, but multiple Stones of the same type do not stack. This 5 stone limit will come in to play in future years.
A bunch of questions about the new tokens:

#1. The new Potion of Bull's Strength seems to grant +4 to strength (+2 to hit/damage) whereas the old Potions only granted a +2 to strength (+1 to hit/damage). Will all of the old ones be retconned to be the stronger type, or will there actually be a difference between using an older and a newer one?

#2. Does the Horn of Plenty amulet have an unlimited number of uses (or is it usable once per dungeon or it's a one use item that you turn in)? So essentially you get 2 additional draws from each treasure box? At what point do you have to declare that you are using it (during a battle encounter for example or just at the end))?

#3. The Bracer of the Dragonfist is singular (and one-handed). Does that mean a Monk can equip with two of them (and slide two of the Bracers during combat)? If only using one Bracer, can it be combined with other bracers such as Bracers of Defense?

#4. Are there any new changes to the Scroll of Mage Armor? Is it stackable with actual armor (for Bards) or cloaks (for the Wizard)?

#5. Does the Ring of Focus only apply to memorized spells or does it include scrolls? Does it include 0-level spells? (Making each Cure Minor Wounds into a 2-point heal is really good!).

#6. For the +2 Holy Great Sword, the +3 damage is on top of what the slider indicates, right? So I could potentially deal 12 + 3 = 15 damage to an evil critter (more if a critical). Correct?

#7. It is just me or do the numbers for the +1 Great Axe and +2 Great Axe look a bit off? I've been comparing the Great Axe to the Great Sword, and for the Axe, the +1/+2 versions are a bit off than the basic Great Axe. Shouldn't the 2nd "7" be a "10" (for the +1) and the 2nd "8" be an "11" (for the +2)?

#8. Text of the Potion of Owl's Wisdom seems to indicate that it is only usable for healing spells. The Potion was already weak before (when it was usable for (*any* retry) but now it seems to be weaker. Is this a change from last year then? (So the Druid won't be able to retry Produce Flame or Flame Blade with the Potion).

#9. This year, will there be a more consistent way to determine what rings/amulets/bracers/etc. a player is wearing? Last year, it seemed as if players could conveniently choose whichever was most convenient. Did the Stone Spider attack you? Then I was wearing a Cloak of Displacement! If instead it tried to turn me to stone, then I was *really* wearing my Cloak of Resistance! When the coach initially calculated AC, there was no way to "commit" players who used the Ring of Protection or Amulet of Armor (to prevent them from using another Ring/Amulet while not re-adjusting AC). Etc.

#10. For this year's battles, will there be different sliders for the older and new tokens? Will there be sliders at all for the new tokens? (I assume so, since people probably don't want their weapon tokens to chip or get scratched up).

Thanks!

What I remember about #2 from the early discussions behind the scenes is that the Horn of Plenty MUST be worn for the duration of the Entire room in order to be used in that room. You cannot switch between amulets in that room (except perhaps as you enter it, declaring that you are wearing the amulet for the entire room sequence) and use the HoP.

Great questions regarding #5. I was also wondering if it was only for Memorized spells or for Scrolls.
My personal opinion is that, in order to be worth being an UR, it should either be usable for all (healing & damage) spells, including Scrolls and Memorized spells, OR it should be a +2 instead of a +1 and be only for Memorized spells.
The question about what it can be used for is something I'd like to have answered before I place my pre-order request. I'm glad Jeff opened this Q/A thread.

#10: Last I knew, Jeff said the tokens work in the same slider.

I think I might know some of these but I am not the official word on this so keep that in mind. ;)

1) Effect is as printed on the token so older ones will have old effects. This also holds with the older damage wheels on the weapons
2) The Horn of Plenty has unlimited uses. You must wear it from the beginning to the end of the room or basically just not use any other amulet for the room and in practice, you would most likely tell the DM when drawing.
3) Monks can use two Bracers of Dragonfist. Using one Bracer of DF though would prevent the use of Bracers of Defense.
4) Mage Armor has historically been stackable with armor and any cloak effect by the people that can cast it.
5) Ring of Focus works only on memorized spells but on all memorized spells.
6) That is correct.
7) In the original GA, that is a "6", not a "9". Its tricky with how the numbers flip as they go around the wheel but take a look again and you will see it.
8 ) I think this is correct but I don't know
9) I think for the most part, what you said is true. The response you are most likely to hear is that its on the honor system. However, I believe you are expected to put tokens in use in some readily accessible and common spot and DMs can ask you to verify that you are wearing a certain item. If you claim that the Cloak of Displacement is on, the DM asks to see it, and you flip to the page with the Cloak of Displacement, the Cloak of Elvenkind, and a Cloak of Resistance, it might trigger some action by the DM. Thats purely speculative though.
10) The same sliders will be used.

Hope that helps,
Douglas

It will be. Originally, it was a Robe of the Mage but was switched to be a Cloak with the intention (I think) to eliminate any stacking questions with Mage Armor.

Bro,

I don't see what difference a robe vs cloak makes - they both take the same slot...and as for stacking - TD has yet to make an announcement as to what MAGICKS are at work in the TD universe and which ones stack.

Bro

That's where opinions differ I suppose.
I would say a Robe would go where Armor does - and not where a cloak does.
A cloak goes where a Cloak does.
One could wear a Robe irl with a cloak over it.
Just like a Rogue could wear Leather Armor and a Cloak.
In the end - it is all MAGICK - so does a robe really go where armor goes and a cloak does not? Does the MAGICKS in a robe cancel out a cloak...

I dunno, but if a robe implies armor...then I guess I understand why it could not stack with MA.

But really - I thought metal of some sort implied armor...(yes wizards can wear leather in my D&D world...)

Anyhoo - I am looking forward to the Token guide with stacking news and word on the powers of all the new TOYS in our universe!!!

HUZZAH!
